Early Life
Durst was born on August 20, 1970, in Jacksonville to a retired police officer and Anita who worked at a church. The family moved to Orlando after a short time and they settled on a farm in Cherryville, North Carolina when Durst was a year old.
Durst’s parents divorced when he was young, and he moved around frequently with his mother and stepfather. He relocated to Gastonia, North Carolina in 5th grade. He served in the US Navy for two years.
He returned back to Jacksonville with his father to work as a gardener and a tattoo artist. Growing up, Durst developed an interest in heavy metal, punk rock, hip hop, and breakdancing and started to rap, skate, beatbox, and DJ.

Limp Bizkit was finally formed in 1994 with Durst Rivers’ cousin John Otto and Malachi Sage bassist Sam Rivers. The band was invited to tour with Korn and they struggled to gain popularity for 3 years until signing with Flip Records.
