Early life
Alexander John Such was born in New York on November 14, 1951, and is a native of Yonkers. He completed his school and graduated from the College of America. Such joined the band Bon Jovi in 1983.
David Bryan recommended him. Alec previously worked with the band Phantom’s Opera. Alec became an integral part of 9the band and one of the founding members.
Career
Alec was part of several of their hit albums such as Bon Jovi(1984), 7800° Fahrenheit(1985), Slippery When Wet(1986), New Jersey(1988) and Keep the Faith(1992). The album Runway reached No.40 on Billboard Hot 100 and Slippery When Wet also became No.1 in the United States, Canada, Finland, Australia, and Switzerland. Slippery When Wet spent eight weeks atop on Billboard Hot 200.
Alec however left the band in 1994 and was replaced by Hugh McDonald unofficially. Alec leaving hurt Bon Jovi, but they always held mutual respect for each other. Such quitting did not come as a surprise to the band as he had wanted to quit for a while.
He was confronted regarding leaking the band’s personal statements to the press and was also asked to leave because of the same. Such also appeared on several of Bon Jovi’s singles such as ‘You Give Love a Bad Name,’ ‘Livin’ on a Prayer and others.
Following the departure from Bon Jovi, Alec briefly managed the band 7th Heaven and set up a motorcycle shop in New York City. He also performed with the band at Giants Stadium. It was right before he decides to retire officially from music in 2001. Alec John Such once again rejoined the band for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

Alec John Such was in relationships with Rita Rae Roxx in 1984 and Jane Books in 1989. Such passed away on June 5, 2022, and the cause of the death is unknown. The death was announced by the former band member Jon Bon Jovi.
