Early Life
Wagner was born on October 3, 1959, in Washington, Missouri. He attended St. Gertrude’s parochial school and St. Francis Borgia Regional High School where he played basketball and football.
He went to study at the University of Missouri but left in a year to enrol at the University of Arizona. He attempted to play Golf and also gave a shot at Theatre. He got a full scholarship from the university’s drama department.
Career
Wagner’s first-ever role was in 1982’s ‘A New Day In Eden,’ where he played the role of Clint Masterson and was a short-lived soap opera. His most popular role is that of playing on ‘General Hospital.‘
There he played Frisco Jones and met Kristina Kay Crump, his iconic significant other and the duo was nothing less than a power couple. He also played the father of Georgie and Maxie Jones in the soap opera.
Wagner’s appearance in the series was released between the years 1983 and 2013. He then went on to appear in Santa Barbara as Warren Lockridge from 1991 to 1993.
He also appeared in several films such as Moving Target, Frequent Flyer, Dirty Little Secret, and Lady Killer. Wagner appeared on Fox’s nighttime soap opera, Aaron Spelling’s Melrose Place as Dr. Peter Burns.

He along with Glen Ballard and Clif Magness produced Wagner’s ‘All I Need,’ which instantly rose up the charts. The album’s record label was Qwest Records/Warner Brothers.
This album hit led him to perform on musical series such as ‘American Bandstand,’ ‘Solid Gold,’ ‘The Merv Griffin Show,’ and ‘Soul Train.’ He also appeared on the run ‘Jekyll and Hyde,’ making him the first celebrity to appear on Broadway.
His other favorite role was that of Dr. Peter Burns from ‘Melrose Place,’ due to his evil character who redeems himself. In 1987, he went on to appear on the National Theatre tour and also the National Tour of Grease in 1988.

As of recent news, Wagner’s second son Harrison was pronounced dead on June 6th, 2022. Harrison battled addiction but the cause of death is unclear. He had past episodes of relapse and almost went missing for a week in 2016 before his relapse.

Wagner married his co-star from the ‘General Hospital,’ Kristina Kay Crump who was also his love interest on the show. The couple however divorced in 2006. They had two sons, Peter born in 1990, and Harrison, born in 1994.
