Early Life
Hudson was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Darnell Donerson and Samuel Simpson on September 12, 1981. She has two siblings and she began performing at the age of seven, singing in the church choir, and doing community theatre.
She graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School in 1999 and later attended Langston University, but left after one semester owing to homesickness and dissatisfaction with the weather and enrolled at Kennedy-King College.
