Early Life and Career
John Easterling was born on April 10, 1952, in North Carolina, the U.S., and studied environmental sciences at the University of North Carolina. He applied for the Peace Corps following graduation.
He finally quit the Corps in search of adventure and moved to South America. He immediately began dealing with rare minerals and stones such as roses, mountain crystals, opals, and many more.
A few years after his first expedition, he began his first real dig. He discovered various pre-art works and textiles by Columbus, which he eventually sold to museums and collectors.

Easterling had a close-to-death experience from hepatitis in 1980, but he recovered quickly. He was riding a motor canoe down a stream in 1990 when he began to feel unwell. Despite being completely fatigued, he managed to reach a tiny village but fainted there. Fortunately, the tribe that lived in the village was nice to him and nursed him back to health.
They routinely served him with various herbs but especially herbal tea which greatly improved his condition. His chronic physical pain and mental exhaustion were significantly reduced. He suddenly realized that the real treasure was rare herbs.

Personal Life
Easterling and Olivia Newton-John John had known each other for about 15 years before they began dating. She is a well-known actress and singer best known for her portrayal as Sandy Olsson in Grease and for hits including 1981’s “Physical”.
The pair married on a mountaintop in Peru in 2008 shortly after they began dating. They exchanged vows again nine days later on a beach in Florida to make their marriage legitimate.
According to Newton-John, Easterling helped her when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. He came into her life after her then-boyfriend Patrick Mc Dermott went missing during a fishing trip in 2005.
