Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Joshua Holt Hamilton was born on May 21, 1981. He attended Athens Drive High school where he served as a pitcher and outfielder. As he neared the 1999 MLB Draft, he was highly coveted prospects and The Tampa Bay Devil Rays offered him a deal shortly.
