Early Life
Max Emilian Verstappen was born in Hasselt, Belgium on September 30, 1997, to Jos Verstappen and Sophie Kumpen. He has a younger sister, Victoria as well. His parents separated when they were young and lived with his father mostly.
He also has three half-siblings from his father’s second marriage and third marriages. His family has been associated with the motorsports category for a long time as his father was also a Formula One driver.
His journey began when he rode quad bikes around the family garden. His father bought him a go-kart at the age of 4 and won his first competition when he was 7 against competitors who were aged 11 and above.
Career
He won competitions in Belgium and Netherlands and was considered a champion. Jos Verstappen retired from racing to exclusively focus on his son. He went on to compete in the Mini Junior Championship in Belgium.
He graduated from the Rotax Max Minimax class and won the Belgian Championship and won the Dutch Minimax championship in 2007. In 2009, he won the Flemish Minimax after joining Team Pex and the Belgian KF5 Championship.

Formula One Career
At the age of 17, Verstappen was the youngest participant in Formula One race weekend by entering the championship even before attaining a license. In his Grand Prix debut, Verstappen was forced to retire due to an engine failure.
In the following race, however, he made a record as the youngest driver to score World Championship points and qualified sixth placing seventh. He received three titles that year, ‘Rookie of the Year,’ ‘Action of the Year,’ and ‘Personality of the Year,’
Verstappen replaced Daniil Kvyat from the Spanish Grand Prix in 2016 and was taken in by Red Bull Racing. In his first eight races with Red Bull, he finished top-five six times which included four podiums.
Verstappen became the youngest driver to win the Formula One Grand Prix at the age of 18 beating Sebastian Vettel. But the following year, 2017, Verstappen had to suffer from seven retirements due to engine issues.
There were three due to the first-lap collisions in Spain, Singapore, and Austria. He however won his second title in Formula One race at the Malaysian Grand Prix, beating the three-time champion Lewis Hamilton.
Verstappen had a very shaky start to his 2018 season and crashed in a race held in Bahrain and continued to have incidents throughout various races held in different countries.
The following year Verstappen won the championship finishing third place in the race and claiming three wins, nine podium finishes, three fastest laps, and two pole positions.
Verstappen signed a contract extension with Red Bull till 2023. He once again finished the 2020 season as well in third place, claiming two race victories, one pole position, eleven podium finishes, and three fastest laps.
In the 2021 United States Grand Prix, Verstappen finished second with the fastest lap. He signed an extension deal with Red Bull Racing once again and has extended his contract by five more years till 2028.

Max Verstappen is currently in a relationship with Kelly Piquet since 2020 and is the daughter of the Brazilian racing driver, Nelson Piquet. She has a daughter from a previous relationship with the F1 racing driver Daniil Kvyat.
