Early Life
Michael Lawrence Tyler was born on September 22, 1970, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Marie Tyler. His father died when he was 7 years old. His mother alone raised him and his two siblings, Michelle and Maurice.
Mystikal went to Cohen High School before joining the US Army as a combat engineer. From a very young age, he wanted to become a rapper so he performed for Run-DMC and Doug E. Fresh.
It was an outdoor event at the Treme Center, which drew the attention of Big Boy Record’s house producer, Leroy “Precise” Edwards, who offered Mystikal a music contract.
Music Career
Mystikal released his self-titled first album in 1994 through the indie label Big Boy Records. Following the release, he found himself clashing with fellow New Orleans rappers including U.N.L.V., B.G., and Lil Wayne.
He released “Mind of Mystikal” in 1995 after signing with Jive Records mostly consisting of tracks from his debut. Mystikal left Big Boy in 1996 while still under contract with Jive to join No Limit Records.
Then he appeared as a guest artist in numerous No Limit albums from 1997 to 1999. He left No Limit but remained with Jive after the label’s two albums were released. He released his album, Let’s Get Ready, which debuted at #1 in 2000.

Personal Life
Mystikal has dated several women, including Nivea (2000-2001) and Monica, who were American singers, and Karrine Steffans (2001). He has two kids Million Tyler and Michelle Tyler.
In 1994, Mystikal discovered her sister Michelle dead inside her house after being stabbed and strangled. Damion Neville, her boyfriend and the grandson of one of the famous Neville Brothers was taken into custody and charged with the offence.

In 2003, Mystikal admitted to sexually assaulting his hairstylist and was given a six-year prison sentence. He forced the woman into having oral sex with him and his two bodyguards and claimed that she had stolen $80,000 in checks.
Mystikal first argued that the encounter was consensual, but soon after the accusations were made, a videotape of the incident was discovered at his residence. Mystikal was charged federally with 2 misdemeanor counts of failing to submit tax.
