Early Life
Nicholas Prugo was born on November 15th, 1991 in Los Angeles. He grew up in Granada Hills in a middle-class household and attended Calabasas High School for a few years before getting expelled for frequent absenteeism.
He switched to Indian Hills High School after getting expelled from Calabasas. After securing a small role in the 2003 TV quasi-documentary Little Lost Souls: Children Possessed, he hoped to pursue a career in acting.
During his time at Indian Hills High School, Prugo met Rachel Lee and became friends with other members of the Bling Ring. He became addicted to the nightlife, and drugs and began stealing from his parents.

The Bling Ring, also known as the Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch, The Burglar Bunch, and the Hollywood Hills Burglars, was a group of seven teenagers and young adults convicted of several robberies in and around Calabasas, California.
The group targeted media people known for their stylish, status-driven lifestyles and fashionable tastes. The group first started only with Rachel Lee and Nick Prugo but later added Alexis Neiers, Diana Tamayo, Courtney Ames, Johnny Ajar, and Roy Lopez Jr.
Robberies
Prugo and Lee executed their first house robbery together in 10th grade, stealing $8,000 in cash. They would also steal credit cards and cash from unlocked cars every night, with Prugo claiming that he was “stealing for drugs” after developing a cocaine addiction.
Prugo and Lee broke into Paris Hilton’s home in 2008 and stole designer clothes, high-end things, and cash. They allegedly broke into Hilton’s home so many times that Lee allegedly added Hilton’s spare key to her keychain.
Prugo and the rest of the Bling Ring then broke into the houses of Audrina Partridge (stealing $43,000 in clothing and jewelry), Rachel Bilson ($130,000-$300,000), Orlando Bloom (nearly $500,000), Brian Austin Green, and Megan Fox, and Lindsay Lohan ($130,000).
The Lindsay Lohan burglary would prove to be their end, as she released surveillance footage to TMZ, resulting in numerous tips and eventually leading to the group’s arrest one by one with Prugo being the first of all.

How Did Prugo Get Caught?
After nearly a year of escaping capture, a security camera at Patridge’s home captured the gang on tape snooping around the premises, which Prugo later saw on the local news. The Bling Ring continued to rob celebrity residences despite being captured on tape.
It wasn’t until they were caught in the act again, this time on a security video at Lohan’s house, that authorities were able to gather together who the possible looters were. He was the first member to be caught and confessed and others eventually got caught one by one.
Nick Prugo was detained and subsequently confessed to the police when an anonymous caller told the police that he and Rachel Lee were responsible for the Lindsay Lohan burglary in August 2009.
Arrest and Other Charges
Prugo pleaded not guilty to burglarizing Audrina Patridge and Lindsay Lohan. In 2013, he was sentenced to two years in jail. He only spent a year in prison because, by the time he was convicted, he had a year credited for time served and good behaviour.
Prugo was arrested in 2014, less than a year after his release, for allegedly violating his parole. Dawn DaLuise, a celebrity skin care specialist, allegedly mentioned Prugo after she was jailed “for allegedly attempting to pay a member of the Detroit Lions to kill the owner of a rival skin store.”
Prugo had broken his parole by traveling out of state without permission, according to Dawn. He shared a room with Edward Feinstein at the time, who DaLuise claims were harassing her online and creating fake photos.
In 2016, Prugo and Feinstein both pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of stalking DaLuise. They were also accused of using bogus online personal ads to recruit men to rape DaLuise. Prugo was sentenced to 350 hours of community service as well as three years probation.
