Early Career
Anthony was born on September 16, 1968, in New York, to Puerto Rican parents. Anthony’s parents named him after Marco Antonio Muñiz, a Mexican singer. Anthony grew up in Spanish Harlem or East Harlem also known as El Barrio.
He was raised Roman Catholic. He is the youngest of 7 siblings. Anthony began learning music at home and was taught by his father, Felipe Muñiz, who was a musician and a professional guitarist.
Anthony listened to an array of genres and artists such as rhythm, rock, pop, blues, and artists such as Air Supply (Australia), José Feliciano, salsa legends Willie Colón (Puerto Rico), Rubén Blades, and Héctor Lavoe, among other popular artists.
