Fred Savage, born Frederick Aaron Savage was born on July 9, 1976, to Joanne and Lewis Savage. Savage was raised in Glencoe, Illinois before they moved to California. He has two siblings, a younger brother, Ben Savage who is also an actor, and a younger sister, Kala, who is an actress and musician as well. Their father worked as a Consultant and Industrial Real Estate broker. Savage’s grandparents are Jewish immigrants who moved to the United States of America and come from Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, and Germany. Savage was raised in Reform Judaism. 

Savage attended a private day school, the Brentwood School, in Los Angeles County, California. He went on to study at Stanford University and became a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. In 1999, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English.

Savage started his career at a very young age and was a child actor. He made guest appearances on television shows like ‘The Crime Story’ and ‘The Twilight Zone’ and even films like ‘The Boy who could Fly’(1986) and ‘Dinosaurs! – A Fun-Filled trip back in Time!’ (1987). He played in a 1987 film, ‘The Princess Bride’, which garnered him a lot of attention for his role. 

From the beginning of 1988 was his golden era, where he appeared in the popular series ‘The Wonder Years’, playing Kevin Arnold. He was nominated for two Golden Globe awards and was nominated as the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for two Emmy Awards as well. He has also made guest appearances in some films such as ‘No One Would Tell’ (1996), ‘The Rules of Attraction (2002), ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’ (2002), ‘The Last Run’ (2004), and ‘Welcome to Mooseport’ (2004). In October 2019, Savage bought a $9.5 million mansion in Los Angeles’s Bel-Air neighborhood. 

Controversies

Fred Savage was recently accused of misconduct for the television series ‘The Wonder Years’ after discovering his behavior during the production of this show. Multiple employees came up and complained about the actor’s behavior during the shooting of the show. The nature of the misconduct remains unclear, but the allegations made turned out to be true.

The actor has since been terminated as the actor and producer of the show ‘The Wonder Years’. Savage was also accused of creating a hostile work environment in the 2018 show ‘The Grinder’ and was accused by a wardrobe team member Younjoo Hwang. Hwang called out Savage for his intimidating behavior, aggression, and constant threats aimed at women employees of the set.
