Early Life

Iliza Vie Shlesinger was born to a Jewish family on February 22nd, 1983, and grew up in Dallas, Texas. She went to the private Greenhill School in Addison, Texas, where she studied Spanish and was a member of the improv team.

Career Beginnings

Iliza began her freshman year at the University of Kansas before transferring to Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, to hone her writing and editing skills while majoring in film. She was a part of one of the campus groups, the comedy sketch group, Jimmy’s Traveling All-Stars.

She moved to Los Angeles after graduating from college and joined the popular Whiteboy Comedy Group, which brought her to the stage at The Improv in Hollywood. Shlesinger participated in and won a Myspace contest called “So You Think You’re Funny” in 2007.
