Scaglia began working for Aeritalia Spazio, where he worked on a NASA satellite project. Following that, he worked for three years as a programmer and project manager before joining McKinsey & Company as a consultant and then manager.

Then Scaglia spent a few years at Bain and four years at Piaggio before leaving as Senior Vice President to become CEO of Omnitel. He led the telecom start-up shortly after it received its license and served for four years, until 1999.

During this time, Silvio recognized the need for technological expansion and founded e.Biscom. His goal as founder and chairman of the latter was to create a fully integrated telecom network, which he accomplished. As a result, he was named to Time Magazine’s list of “Most Influential Innovators in New Technology” in 2003.

He left this company in 2007, only to found Babelgum, an interactive TV platform that liquidated and closed in 2012. Around 2010, he acquired the model management agency Elite World Group and later became chairman of La Perla, a well-known luxury clothing brand.

After that, he met creative director Julia Haart, which led to a romance. Then he encouraged his wife to accept the prestigious CEO position at Elite World Group, which they now co-own, after noticing her work ethic and ambition.

His net worth remains stable at nearly $1 billion, owing primarily to his constant need to work and take on new projects.
