Early Life
Hunter Moore was born on March 9th, 1986 in Sacramento, California. Moore attended Woodland High School before dropping out at a young age. He is said to have a framed T-shirt from his first professional endeavor in his room.
He founded the T-shirt company in the eighth grade, after being expelled from a private Christian school. He worked as a DJ before becoming famous for developing and running a revenge porn site.
The infamous – ‘Is Anyone Up?’
Moore created the website in 2010 with the intention of it being a nightlife website, but after he and several pals received sexually explicit images from ladies they were hooking up with at the time and the site was renamed Is Anyone Up?
Moore’s website allowed users to upload sexual and explicit images of people online without their consent, typically accompanied by personal information such as their names and residences.
He refused to remove photographs even upon asking and its content subsequently became known as “revenge porn.” The website was online for 16 months, during which time he declared that he was protected by the same laws that protect FB.
Moore sold the website in 2012 to an anti-bullying website named BullyVille.com after the FBI investigation. In 2013, a defamation suit was filed against Moore after he allegedly called McGibney a “paedophile” and threatened to rape his wife.
FBI Investigation
Charlotte Laws, the mother of one of the victims, spent two years gathering evidence from over 40 victims and turning it over to the FBI. Moore and a colleague hacker named Charles Evens were suspected of hacking-related offences in 2012.
It was when nude images and videos were posted on the website isanyoneup.com. He eventually faced multiple lawsuits and an FBI investigation. A woman featured on the site also stabbed him in the shoulder with a pen.
Hunter Moore also threatened to burn down The Village Voice’s headquarters if they published an article regarding his FBI probe but ran the story regardless of the threat.

Moore was arrested in 2014 on accusations of conspiracy, unauthorized access to a protected computer, and aggravated identity theft. He was freed from the Sacramento County Jail two days later on a $100,000 bond.
He was legally obliged to destroy the archives he owns for the Is Anyone Up? database and the FBI was watching him do it. In 2015, exactly one year after his imprisonment, posts began to appear on his Twitter account.
