David A. Arnold was born on 15 March 1968 in Cleveland, Ohio to Barbara Massey and Bobby Massey. He had two siblings, Tammi Carson and Devaki Youngblood.
Arnold attended Beachwood High School and soon became interested in standup comedy after watching Eddie Murphy’s Delirious special.
Arnold made his stand-up debut at Cleveland’s Hilarities 4th Street Theater. He began his career as a comedian in 1990 and became a television writer in 2000. He has written for television shows such as Meet the Browns, House of Payne, The Rickey Smiley Show, and others. He also wrote and produced the Netflix series Fuller House.
Arnold hoped to follow in the footsteps of other comedians who had launched sitcoms based on their sets. Although he was in talks with BET about creating a sitcom based on his life, the project never got off the ground.
He quickly gained popularity on social media, and his ranting videos were well received by his followers. Arnold stated that he continues to share videos and comic rants like he did 15 years ago.
Arnold created the Nickelodeon comedy show That Girl Lay Lay. Meet the Browns, A Series of Unfortunate People, and The Tony Rock Project were among the shows he appeared in.
