Jenifer was born on March 29, 1976, in New York City. She is of American nationality. Her family then shifted to Spain for a few years and then relocated back to Florida so that Jenifer could pursue a career in Tennis.
Her father Stefano was an Italian-based tennis coach and a former boxer. Her mother Denise was a Pan-Am Stewardess. Her parents trained her to be a tennis player ever even when she was still a toddler. Her personality attracted everyone and so did her game. She made her first professional debut when she was just 13 years old.
When Jenifer was 10 years old, she was enrolled with Jimmy Evert in an intense tennis training program. The rules for the Virginia tournament were relaxed giving her a chance to play at the age of 13 in the Virginia Slams Tournament.
She then went on to reach the semifinals of the French Open and became the youngest tennis player in Wimbledon to make it to the top 10 on the list.
