Early Life
Julia Haart was born in Moscow, Russia, on April 11th, 1971, but moved to New York City when she was three years old. By the age of 11, Haart had moved to Monsey, one of New York’s largest Orthodox communities.
Haart went to Bais Yaakov Academy in Brooklyn, New York. She developed an early interest in fashion design and, after reading fashion magazines, learned to sew at the age of 16. When she was 18 years old, Haart changed her name to Talia.
Haart is the eldest of eight children, one of whom died in a car accident when he was five years old. Only one of her siblings, Hannah, has a relationship with her; her parents and other siblings stopped speaking to her after she left her Orthodox community.
Career
Haart’s shoe company, Julia Haart Inc., was founded in 2013. She wished to create a footwear line that combined fashion and comfort for the wearer. Haart was named creative director of La Perla in 2016 as a result of her work on accessory collections.
She designed a “ready-to-wear collection” for La Perla, which was a huge success for the company. Haart met Silvio Scaglia, an Italian telecom tycoon while working for the company. Scaglia paid $69 million for La Perla in 2013.
Scaglia purchased the name at auction in 2013 for $90 million. She later worked as the creative director for La Perla, an Italian lingerie-focused fashion house. Scaglia also named Haart as CEO of Elite World Group a few months after the couple married in 2019.
Scaglia would eventually face tax evasion issues that would land him in prison and under house arrest. Haart created the La Perla Manor runway show in 2017, which featured Kendall Jenner and Naomi Campbell. That same year, she designed Kendall Jenner’s Met Gala gown.
Haart took over as CEO of Elite World Group in March 2019. She was successful in business and had recently made the transition to television. Haart appeared in Netflix’s “My Unorthodox Life” in July 2021.
Her life as the CEO of The Elite World Group is chronicled in the show. Jewish organizations in the area chastised the play for her role. Haart revealed back in 2021 that she had big plans for new fashion lines. In March 2022, Haart released an autobiography, Brazen.
