Early Life

Liz Chaney was born on July 28, 1966, in Wisconsin, and was the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and Second Lady Lynne Cheney. Her parents were still studying at the University of Wisconsin- Madison at the time her being born.

While Cheney attended Middle School in Casper, Wyoming, her father campaigned for Congress. They lived between Casper and Washington between the 1970s and the 1980s while her father was elected to Congress.

She attended McLean High School and graduated from Colorado College with a bachelor’s degree in Arts. She wrote the thesis ‘The Evolution of Presidential War Powers,’ and received her Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School.

Career

Cheney worked for the State Department at the United States Agency for International Development between 1989 and 1993, before attending law school. She then took a position at Armitage Associates LLP.

It was consulting firm founded by Richard Armitage who was a Deputy Secretary of State and a former Defense Department official. Cheney practiced law at White & Case as an International Law attorney.

Cheney was sworn into office in 2017 and supported Trump’s Presidential Campaign and co-sponsored the legislation supporting Endangered Species Act. She was criticized by Ocasio-Cortez for holding Mexico-U.S. border immigrants.

It was like holding concentration camp victims. She constantly showed support for the Trump administration and was a loyal Trumpist. But following the Capitol attack, Cheney announced she would vote to impeach Trump.

It was for his role in the attack. Trump instructed his insurrectionists to get rid of Cheney as she betrayed the former President. She was also asked to step down from the Wyoming Republican House for her vote in favor of Trump’s impeachment.
