Early Life
Christopher Alan Kirkpatrick was brought to the earth on October 17, 1971, in Clarion, Pennsylvania. He belongs to Native Americans, Irish, Scottish, and Spanish ancestors. He started attending Dalton High School in Dalton, Ohio, just before transferring to Rollins College in Florida.
While in Florida, Kirkpatrick started working as a busboy at a branch of the major chain restaurant Outback Steakhouse and conducted with the Doo Wop group The Hollywood Hi-Tones at Universal Studios.
Career
Through a mutual friend, Kirkpatrick managed to meet American music producer and boyband creator Lou Pearlman in 1995. Pearlman was the driving force underneath the Backstreet Boys, a gigantic boyband.
Pearlman was intrigued by Kirkpatrick’s concept to form a new boyband. Pearlman decided to offer to fund the group if Kirkpatrick could recruit other youthful, talented male singers. As a result, the seeds of what would become the band NSYNC were sown.
Pearlman started to notice Justin Timberlake, who had emerged on the show “The Mickey Mouse Club,” while going to look through tapes he already had. Kirkpatrick contacted Timberlake, who suggested his friend JC Chasez.
They eventually settled on five members for NSYNC: Kirkpatrick, Timberlake, and Chasez, as well as Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. From 1995 to 2002, NSYNC was active. Kirkpatrick and the group managed to sell more than 50 million records worldwide.
The group’s second album, “No Strings Attached,” in specific, was a massive success, selling 2.4 million records in its 1st week of the initial release. For 15 years, they kept the record for the most records sold during the first-week release, till after Adele’s album “25” exceeded them in 2015.
Kirkpatrick was mainly remembered for his distinct countertenor tone. Kirkpatrick remained out of the public spotlight for five years after NSYNC disbanded in 2002, until 2007 when he appeared in the tv show “Mission Man Band.”
The reality show, which also broadcasted on VH1 for one season in 2007, accompanied former boyband members who were popular in the 1990s and their methods to achieve success once more.
Bryan Abrams of Color Me Badd, Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees (98 °), and Rich Cronin of LFO are among the other former boyband representatives featured on the show. On the show, the four guys formed the supergroup Sure shot, capturing an original song and going to perform at public events.
Kirkpatrick was brought back to reality television after “Mission Man Band” in 2008 as a cast member of the second season of the CMT show recently “Gone Country.” The show is a celeb real-life show in which participants compete to be country music singers.
The show’s grand prize is a nation single generated by Big & Rich’s John Rich. Jermaine Jackson, a former member of The Jackson 5, actor Sean Young, and “American Idol” season 4 contestant Mikalah Gordon were among several contestants on Kirkpatrick’s season.
Despite not having won (the winner was Sebastian Bach, the lead vocalist of the glam metal band Skid Row), Kirkpatrick earned very good comments from judge John Rich, and his new album pleasantly surprised everyone.
Projects
During the peak of his NSYNC fame, Kirkpatrick launched his own clothing line, Fu-Man Skeeto, in 1998. The garments line’s style was motivated by urban skater fashion. He shut down the line in early 2001. Kirkpatrick has a stable career as a voiceover performer outside music.
He is mainly remembered for voicing the Nickelodeon animated series “The Fairly OddParents” character Chip Skylark. He has played minor roles in films such as “On the Line”, “Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!,” and “Dead 7.” He has also appeared in numerous music videos.
