RoccStar was born in San Diego, California as Leon Youngblood Jr. on October 31, 1989, to Leon Youngblood Sr. and Ginger Youngblood. He had 4 siblings who grew up with him. He took up visual and performing arts at Hollywood High School.
His father set Roccstar up with a broker, Chris Lighty, who in turn became Roccstar’s manager and got him a deal with Epic Records. He then signed with Primary Wave Music in 2012.
RoccStar began working with Chris Brown along with Diplo and Timbaland in 2013 and wrote six of his songs on Brown’s album called ‘X,’ and the lead single ‘Fine China.’ The album was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Urban Contemporary Album in 2014.
