Alexander Emerick Jones was born on 11 February 1974 in Dallas, Texas to Carol Jones, a homemaker, and David Jones, a dentist. His family relocated to Austin, and he attended Anderson High School, where he played football.

Jones and his ex-wife Kelly Jones split in 2015; they had three kids together. Her former, husband Kelly requested sole or shared custody of their children in 2017. She claimed that he was not a stable person and was criminally involved.
